L’acqua, nelle installazioni di Ignazio Fresu, è l’elemento entro cui l’artista stempera ogni riducibilità della materia entro una forma stabile, reinterpretando la materia secondo suoi dinamismi de-compositivi. Un’operazione fine, attraverso cui l’artista vuole farci intravedere le sequenze infinitesimali dei passaggi con cui la materia disgrega la sua forma, per trascinarci oltre questo orizzonte e porre la nostra attenzione anche verso ciò che segue la scomposizione di essa. L’acqua è l’origine e il ritorno di un processo che possiamo solo intuire nella sua circolarità, esattamente come suggerisce l’acqua nelle installazioni dell’artista.

The water, in Ignazio Fresu’s installations, is an element through which the artist works the living matter into a stable form, re-interpreting the material according to its own dynamics of decomposition. This is a fine operation and, through it, the artist let us take a peak into the infinitesimal sequence of transformations of the changing matter. The artist thus takes us beyond the visible horizon and brings to our attention what follows decomposition. Water is the origin and destination of a circular process that we can only partially grasp, exactly as suggested by the water in the artist’s installations.
